HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — An electronics recycling event was held Saturday for Hanover County residents, allowing them to safely dispose of old electronics.

The morning of Saturday, April 20, the second of two recycling events held in the county this April attracted a line of cars looking to safely dispose of old electronics like televisions, tablets and more.

The following sorts of items were able to be recycled Saturday:

  • Flat-screen monitors and TVs
  • CRT (old convex style) monitors and CRT televisions
  • Computers, tablets and cell phones (hard drive only for computers)
  • Cell phones and tablets with internal batteries
  • Printers and battery backups
  • Rechargeable batteries (which can pose a fire hazard and should not be placed in household trash or recycling)
  • All small electrical items with a plug (such as microwaves)

This event was free of charge to residents, who were asked to show ID in order to participate.
