GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Georgetown County School District Superintendent Keith Price is headed to the midlands for the new school year.

The Lexington County School District One Board of Trustees voted Tuesday night to extend contracts to Price as the superintendent-elect/superintendent of Lexington County School District One for the 2024-25 school year.

Price became superintendent of Georgetown County schools in June 2020 and previously served as Assistant Superintendent in Richland School District Two from 2014 to 2020, and as principal of Blythewood High School before that.

His last day with Georgetown County schools will be June 30, 2024.

“The Board appreciates Mr. Price’s leadership, passion, and dedication over the last four years. This is a great loss for our District, and we are committed to supporting his work as he remains with us until the conclusion of his contract on June 30, 2024,” said Georgetown County School District Board of Trustees.

Price replaces former Charleston County School District Superintendent Dr. Gerrita Postlewait, who joined Lexington One in 2022.

The Georgetown County School District’s Board of Trustees will work with a consulting firm in its search for a new leader and may appoint an interim superintendent.

“Please be assured that the Board recognizes the importance of continuity and stability during this transition process as we seek the best candidate for the position. Our goal is to find an individual who shares our values, mission, and commitment to the students, staff, and families of Georgetown County School District,” the board added.
