John Travolta is celebrating the 30th anniversary of Pulp Fiction, and for the big milestone, he’s able to do so with his daughter Ella. The father-daughter duo made a night-long party out of the 30th-anniversary screening, making for an experience Ella called “surreal” in the best way.

The Quentin Tarantino-directed crime film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May before hitting theaters in the U.S. on October 14, 1994. In addition to Travolta, the star-studded cast included Samuel L. Jackson, Uma Thurman, Bruce Willis, and Tim Roth. The film, considered by many to be the magnum opus in Tarantino’s extensive filmography, was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the United States National Film Registry.

An already joyful night was particularly magical for Ella and John as the two set off for the red carpet event on Thursday. Travolta was seen wearing a dark jacket over a matching, formal button-up shirt. At his side was 24-year-old Ella, wearing a flouncy dress with splotchy patterns of brown, red, and gold, keeping her newly-cut hair flowing in gentle waves around her face.

Speaking with ET, Ella had nothing but praise for the atmosphere of the entire evening. “Oh my gosh, it’s surreal,” she gushed. “It’s amazing. We’ve been having fun the whole ride over here, so it’s gonna be really nice.”

Ella had to wait until she was 18 to see the movie for herself for the first time. When she finally got to see Pulp Fiction, Ella was impressed with Travolta’s performance, especially his dancing. “Amazing,” she praised, “11 out of 10.”

“Obviously, I spent my whole life hearing about it and seeing clips of it,” she mused. “but then when I saw it, it’s a perfect movie. It’s the definition of a perfect movie. It’s inspiring for someone who is aspiring to be an actress.”

The rest of the film got similar positive feedback from her. Travolta proudly shared, “She loved all of it. She’s a film buff. She has good taste in film. She’s got it.”
