Investigation open after Greene Co. inmate dies

GREENE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — An investigation is being conducted after an inmate at the Greene County Jail died on Thursday.

According to a release from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, 42-year-old Lea Pfaff of Bloomfield “suffered an unknown medical event while in custody.”

The release notes that life-saving measures were taken by the staff at the jail and that Pfaff was transported via ambulance to the Greene County General Hospital before later being taken to a hospital in Evansville, Indiana where Pfaff then died.

The release reports an autopsy is scheduled to take place on Friday as a part of the ongoing investigation.
