Effingham County school bus driver detained after crash

SPRINGFIELD, Ga. (WSAV) – A school bus driver was detained after a crash in front of South Effingham High School Thursday morning.

According to a press release from Dr. Yancy Ford, superintendent of the Effingham County School District, no students were injured.

No charges against the driver have been announced.

“The safety of our students during transportation is of paramount importance to the

Effingham County School District,” Ford stated. “Every measure is taken to ensure that our buses

adhere to strict safety protocols and that our drivers are well-trained and vigilant.

“We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and will continue to implement measures to safeguard our students during their commute to and from

school.”

Ford said the school district is working with law enforcement to investigate the crash.

He thanked the Georgia State Patrol, the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office and all emergency responders for their swift response.
