Missing man with dementia found dead on Hunter Street

UPDATE, April 19, 2024, 9:47a.m. – On April 18th, at 7:40pm, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 1600 block of Hunter Street about a deceased person.

Upon arrival, Deputies located a deceased adult male.

He has been identified as 80-year-old Roy Jones who was reported missing April 15th.

No foul play is expected.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s help in locating a missing man with dementia.

Roy Jones was last seen on March 15th in the area of the 800 block of Laney Walker Boulevard.

Roy is diagnosed with dementia and walks with a limp.

He was was last seen wearing khaki shorts, a black t-shirt with the phrase “Old School” on the front, a white ball cap and brown sandals.
