EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — Owner of Philthy Vintage Clothing Philip Ashenbremer believes someone like Caitlin Clark could affect his business.

Clark is this year’s top WNBA draft pick, and the Indiana Fever selected her.

“I want me a Caitlin Clark shirt right now,” says Ashenbremer, who adds that he has not seen much Indiana Fever gear available. “I’ve been sourcing vintage for almost ten years. I get tons of Indiana University and Notre Dame and Purdue stuff, and I try to get to get University of Evansville.”

As Clark’s popularity grows, there is certainly a chance all that will change.

“If I were to get some gear in here, I’m sure it would sell real quick,” Ashenbremer says. “I just haven’t had access to any Indiana Fever gear.”

Just announced on Monday, Clark’s draft is motivating shoppers to show off their Caitlin Clark pride. Ashenbremer showed us one Clark jersey which sold for $375 online.

In Ashenbremer’s experience, fans have come to him for Iowa Hawkeyes merchandise.

“I showed the Iowa hat and people started biddong on that just because, like, ‘bro I just had to get it because Caitlin Clark plays tomorrow’ or something like that,” Ashenbremer says. “It was so easy to sell, but I had it in here for months and hadn’t sold it.”

Looking ahead — Ashenbremer is looking toward adding Fever gear and more women’s gear in the store.

“I know there’s that one girl from Princeton that’s in the WNBA, and I think she’s on the Las Vegas team,” Ashenbremer says. “I need to get a t-shirt with her on it because the local people love supporting the local people.”
