Landowners in 26 West Virginia counties may qualify for flood disaster assistance

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WBOY) — Residents in Harrison, Barbour, Doddridge and Ritchie counties as well as 22 other counties across West Virginia may qualify for assistance after flooding this month.

According to a press release from the West Virginia Conservation Agency, disaster assistance can be applied for locally in counties that were included in the State of Emergency that Gov. Jim Justice declared after severe storms on and after April 2 . Those counties include:

• Boone
• Braxton
• Brooke
• Calhoun
• Doddridge
• Fayette
• Gilmer
• Hancock
• Harrison
• Jackson
• Kanawha
• Lincoln

• Logan
• Marshall
• Mingo
• Nicholas
• Ohio
• Pleasants
• Ritchie
• Roane
• Tyler
• Wayne
• Wetzel
• Wirt
• Wood

Landowners in the affected counties may be eligible for Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) Program assistance to help them recover from the natural disaster. The areas were affected by flooding and tornadoes and saw damages from downed trees and power outages to extreme high water and wind damage .
