Two men injured by tractor-trailer crash on I-81N in Wythe County

WYTHE COUNTY, Va. ( WFXR ) – The Virginia State Police(VSP) says one man has been seriously injured in an accident involving two tractor-trailers on Interstate 81 North on April 15 in Wythe County.

VSP says around 9:50 p.m. on Monday, a tractor-trailer driven by 29-year-old Ricky G. Hammond of Phoenix, Arizona was partially parked in the emergency lane and the northbound lane of I-81. A second tractor-trailer driven by 34-year-old Khamid Eshkobilov, of Brooklyn, New York, then collided with Hammond’s truck, causing it to slam into the guardrail. Both vehicles then ignited into flames.

Ricky Hammond suffered minor injuries and was charged with improper stopping on a highway.

Khamid Eshkobilov suffered serious injuries.

Police say both drivers were taken to the hospital for treatment.
