Volusia-Flagler High School Athlete of the Week poll: April 15

The polls are open!

It's time to vote for the Volusia-Flagler Athlete of the Week for the week of April 8-13. Athletes for all in-season sports are eligible.

Last week, Trinity Christian softball player Kay'la Jones took home the honors, claiming 26% of the votes.

The News-Journal gathers nominees from scores and stats emailed to the sports desk during the week by coaches across the area. Coaches can email nominees to cvinel@gannett.com.

Voting will close at 10 a.m. Thursday. Votes are restricted to once per device per hour.

Baseball

Tyler Callaway, Father Lopez: The senior went back-to-back games against Matanzas and Mainland with three RBI.

Rustin Hurley, Seabreeze: Hurley enjoyed a monster game against Matanzas, collecting three doubles in four at-bats, driving in six runs and scoring three more.

Reilley Oglageo, Trinity Christian: The sophomore had two hits, including a solo home run, and knocked in two of the Eagles' three runs in a 3-2 victory over Cambridge Christian. He also pitched a one-two-three inning out of the bullpen.

Flag football

Chloe Waldo, Spruce Creek: The sophomore picked off four Flagler Palm Coast passes during a 12-0 district semifinals victory.

Kiera Williams, Mainland: The junior scored seven touchdowns (five receiving, two rushing) across wins over Trinity Christian, Pine Ridge and Seabreeze, as the Bucs claimed the district championship. Williams added six sacks.

Softball

Payton Mathis, DeLand: The sophomore jacked a triple and a homer, compiling four RBI in a win over Seabreeze.

Tennis

Tatiana Leontyeva, Flagler Palm Coast: The sophomore secured two No. 1 doubles victories against Seabreeze and Matanzas. She tacked on one win in No. 1 singles and another triumph in No. 2 singles.

Track and field

Jordan Mills, Matanzas: The senior won the 110-meter hurdles in 15.65 seconds and the 400-meter hurdles in 59.26 seconds at the Tocoi Creek Toro Showdown.

Chris Murdock, First Baptist Christian: The senior won the 1,600-meter run (4:57.82) at the Falcon Last Chance meet. He also finished eighth in the 800-meter run (2:16.3).

Maya Tyson, Flagler Palm Coast: The junior won the shot put event with a throw of 37 feet, 8.75 inches at the Tocoi Creek Toro Showdown.
