Every Monday, the Beaver County Times will recognize both individual athletes and teams for their impressive performances that took place in the last week of high school sports action. Here are the standout efforts from the week of April 8-14.
BASEBALL
Darren McDade, Riverside
McDade played a key role at the bottom of the order for the Panthers in their first game in over a week and a half as he drove in four runs three coming off of a bases clearing RBI double to break open the lead for Riverside in the team’s 7-1 win over Shenango.
Brady Brazell, OLSH
Brazell was electric in the team’s 8-7 victory over Laurel as he went 2-3 with 2 RBI’s in the team’s win over the Spartans on Monday.
Hunter Garvin, Riverside
After a strong relief effort on the mound on Monday, Garvin was a force at the plate in Tuesday’s game against Shenango. Garvin went 3-4 with a home run and a double while also driving home six in the team’s 12-1 blowout victory over the Wildcats.
Nolan Wagoner, Quaker Valley
Wagoner got the job done on both sides as he pitched two innings while fanning five in the team’s 15-0 win over Beaver Falls on Tuesday. He also went 2-2 at the plate driving home three runners while striking up a double in the team’s victory over the Tigers.
Will Gubba, West Allegheny
Gubba was on point when it mattered most as he went 1-2 with two RBI’s in the team’s 6-4 victory over Moon Area.
Oscar Roig, Quaker Valley
Roig was a force at the top of the order for the Quakers on Wednesday as he went 3-3 with one walk in the team’s 12-3 victory over Beaver Falls.
SOFTBALL
Mackenzie Springer, Beaver Area
Springer was domaint in the leadoff spot for the Bobcats this week as she went 4-4 while driving in one run while circling the bases four times in the team’s 19-9 loss to Blackhawk.
Keira Rodu, Blackhawk
Rodu was red hot at the dish for the Cougars on Monday she she went a perfect 4-4 at the plate recording two doubles while driving in four runners in the team’s 10 run victory over Beaver Area.
Kendall Chambers, Moon Area
Chambers went a perfect 3-3 with a double in the team’s tight 6-5 win over West Beaver on Tuesday.
Emma Weaver, Central Valley
Weaver was domain on both sides for Central Valley as she went 3-5 driving in three runs while recording three doubles. She also pitch three strong inning in the circle just allowing one hit while fanning seven batters in the team’s 12-0 victory over Quaker Valley. Then on Wednesday, despite an 0-3 effort at the plate Weaver drove in a run in the team’s 13-2 win over the Quakers.
Miladija Pavlovich, South Side Beaver
Pavlovich was domaint in the Rams order on Tuesday as she went 1-3 with a triple while driving in four RBI’s in the team’s 18-6 win over Sewickley Academy.
Karis Dunham, South Side Beaver
Dunham hit a grand slam on Wednesday as she went 1-4 driving in four runners in the team’s win over Rochester.
Ayla Sterner, Riverside
Sterner was a force in the circle as she allowed just two hits while punching out seven in the team’s shutout 13-0 victory over New Brighton.
Ava Ciummo, OLSH
Ciummo was a force recording a double while driving in three runs in the team’s 22-4 win over
GIRLS LACROSSE
Ava Pagnani, Blackhawk
Pagnani had a dominant week for the Cougars as she scored seven goals over two games this past week. On Monday, Pagnani netted four goals in the team’s tight 9-8 loss to Mars. Then on Tuesday, Pagnani netted a hat trick during the team’s 22-4 win over Aquinas Academy on Wednesday.
Mia Piocquidio, Blackhawk
Piocquidio paced the Cougars on a milestone evening as she netted six goals in the team’s victory over Aquinas Academy. On her second goal of the evening, Piocquidio recorded her 200th goal of her high school career.
Lucy Roig, Quaker Valley
Roig was dominant in the team’s 13-5 win over North Catholic as she netted four goals while recording two assists in the team’s win over the Trojans.
Marleigh Therrian, Moon Area
Therrian netted five goals in the Tigers tight 11-8 loss to South Fayette on Wednesday.
TRACK AND FIELD
Nate Franitti, Blackhawk
Frantilli contributed 20 points in Blackhawk’s 115-32 win over Amrbdige as he collected wins in the long jump, triple jump, high jump and the 4X400 relay.
Grace Davis, Blackhawk
Davis was also the top point getter for the Cougras on in the girls dual meet in the team’s win over Ambridge and New Castle as she collected victories in the 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, long jump and triple jump in the win while collecting 20 points.
