FERRIDAY, La. (KTVE/KARD) — In April 2024, the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office was awarded a $70,000 grant from VOCA (Victims of Crime Act). The grant is monumental for the advancement of locating, recovering, and providing services to those, especially the most vulnerable, who are victims of violent crime.
According to officials, the Sheriff’s Office has purchased the latest in computer technology to expedite the identification of these victims with the grant. With this new equipment, the workflow time will be substantially reduced allowing deputies to quickly rescue children and victims of violent crime, and immediately begin the healing process with our counseling partners.
With the implementation of the grant funding, there has been a direct positive correlation between the quickness of recovery and the healing process being successful.
With the implementation of the grant funding, there has already been a direct positive correlation between the quickness of recovery and the healing process being successful. This mission of rescuing children and victims of crime has been one of Sheriff’s Hedrick’s top priorities, and he continues to push for state-of-the-art methods and equipment to lead the way in the state in this field, so much so that many surrounding parishes, as well as local, state, and federal law enforcement partners, are now entrusting the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office with assisting their agencies with the efficiency and knowledge proven and provided by the Detectives that provide technical assistance and expertise with investigations.
Sheriff Hedrick will continue to expand the digital forensic lab and the continuous training needed to man such an advanced forensic lab and will continue to pursue those who prey upon the most vulnerable in our community.
