The Summit County Sheriff's Office attempted to conduct a welfare check on a 10-year-old girl who was involved in a skiing accident after her mother allegedly dodged a necessary hospital trip.

Following the accident at an undisclosed Summit County resort, the young girl was taken to the ski resort medical center with a significant head injury. Staff decided that the girl needed further care at the Summit Medical Center, but the mother of the girl insisted on self-transportation opposed to the use of an ambulance.

It was later discovered that the mother and daughter had never checked in at the hospital. This worried medical staff due to the extent of the girl's head injury.

Through a bit of investigation, authorities were able to determine that the mother and daughter lived out-of-state.

Ski resort security attempted to locate the two as guests of a resort property, but were unsuccessful.

Without many other options, a voicemail was left on the mother's phone that explained how serious the head injury was, while urging a visit to Summit Medical Center.

No other updates on the situation were provided, but hopefully the young girl got the medical assistance she needed.
