PennDOT names Employee of the Quarter

Montoursville, Pa. — PennDOT has selected the District Office Employee of the Quarter for the second quarter of 2024.

The award winner, Jason Mowery, began his career with PennDOT in 2003 as a temporary operator for three winters before becoming a permanent employee. Over the years he also served as an Equipment Operator A, and a Highway Foreman 2 in the Northumberland County Maintenance Organization.

He currently holds the position of Highway Foreman 3 on the District’s Paint Crew, supervising a crew of four whose primary area includes the southern counties of Union, Snyder, Montour, Columbia and Northumberland.

In this position, Jason ensures that the crew follows safety protocols for moving operations, follows policies for material usage, and that the district maintains the reflectivity of the paint on area roads.

In 2023, under Jason’s supervision, the District Paint Crew completed 3,778 line miles, which is the most line miles completed since 2018. Last year Jason’s crew successfully completed a pilot program where line painting was performed during overnight hours. The success of this pilot program has led to further consideration for overnight painting for the upcoming paint season.

Jason is a 21-year employee with PennDOT. He lives in Kulpmont with his wife Nicole, daughter Lilly, and son Aaron. In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf and watching baseball.
