SoCal storm timeline: Storm lingers through Easter, but here's what's in store for Monday

Southern California is seeing a rainy Easter Sunday, and there's a chance of thunderstorms through tonight.

Here's a look at the rain timeline, what the different parts of the region will see on Sunday and what's in store for the rest of the week.

Will there be more rain Sunday afternoon into the night?

A flood watch is in effect until 6 p.m. Sunday for Los Angeles County, with a high surf advisory in effect at the county's beaches until 9 p.m.

Conditions were slowly starting to clear out Sunday afternoon but there will still be some pockets of rain in the South Bay areas. Sunday's rainfall totals will be highly variable, according to the National Weather Service, with many areas receiving an additional 0.25 to 0.50 inches, and a chance of some small areas receiving up to an additional inch if a strong thunderstorm passes overhead.

Snow levels will remain in the 4,500- to 5,500-foot range, with an additional 6 to 12 inches likely above 5,000 or 6,000 feet.

The storm will dissipate as it continues moving inland throughout the day.

When will it stop raining in Southern California?

The storm system will mostly move out of the area by Monday morning. The region is expected to be mostly clear by 8 a.m. Monday.

What will the weather be like in Los Angeles and Orange counties?

Los Angeles and Orange counties could see a chance of thunderstorms and hail Sunday. The high will be 62 degrees while the low will be 50. Monday is expected to be partly sunny.

Thunderstorms are possible with the atmospheric river, which could mean localized heavy rain that exceeds the 2 inches of rain expected.

What will the weather be like in the valleys and Inland Empire?

On Sunday, more rain is expected with hail and thunder. The high will be 59 degrees and low will be 47 degrees.

On Monday, the valleys and the Inland Empire will be partly sunny. Tuesday will be partly cloudy in the morning with highs around 67.

What will the weather be like at Southern California beaches?

At the beaches on Sunday, the coast could see 1 to 2 inches of rain.

By Monday, the chance of rain goes to 30 percent, and then Tuesday, the partly cloudy skies are expected with highs around 67.

When will it snow in Southern California mountains?

On Sunday, mountain communities will see more snow and rain but by Monday, the mountains will have a 40 percent chance of rain. Then Tuesday, it will be mostly sunny.

What will the weather be like in the deserts?

On Sunday, the desert region could see up to an inch of rain. On Monday, the region will see partly cloudy conditions. Then Tuesday will be mostly sunny, with highs in the 70s.

What are the weather concerns with this storm?

Since the system brought days of rain to the region, mudslides, debris flows, flooding and flash flooding are a concern with this system.

The thunderstorms also have the possibility of producing hail and tornadic spin-ups.
