Director Christopher Nolan And Producer Wife Emma Thomas To Receive Honours

Director Christopher Nolan and his producer wife Emma Thomas are set to be honoured with British titles, the government confirmed Thursday.

Nolan will receive a knighthood and Thomas is to be awarded a damehood, an accolade befitting the powerhouse duo behind some of the most defining British films of the past two decades.

The celebrated pair have collaborated on films such as The Dark Knight Batman trilogy, Inception , Interstellar and Dunkirk . Most recently the couple’s biopic Oppenheimer , a drama on the life of nuclear scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer , secured Nolan his first Oscar for Best Director , further sweeping the awards season with accolades for Best Picture among others.

Nolan and Thomas first met as students at University College London, going on to co-found Syncopy, the production company that stands behind their array of blockbuster hits. Nolan, in acknowledging his wife’s pivotal role behind his directorial successes, has often highlighted their aligned perspectives in bringing their visions to the screen.
