Grooming isn't a lot of pets' favorite activities, especially when it comes to cats. After all, they typically bathe themselves, so on the occasions that they do need their humans to give them a bath, they're not very happy about it! That aversion to water makes things difficult... and if you have a long haired cat who need to be brushed, forget it. You'll have made an enemy at least for the rest of the day (they'll forgive you by morning, though — at least in my experience!).

Starting when they're kittens can help them get used to the idea so they don't put up such a fight when they need to be groomed when they're older. This TikTok video is proof of that. This Maine Coon kitten loves to be pampered already!

On Tuesday, March 26, @luckimainecoons shared a video of the tiniest orange Maine Coon kitten getting the full spa treatment, including a blowout. And while some cats would have been totally freaking out, this little cat was chill.

They were fighting the comb a little bit, but in a playful way — and let's face it, that's something that just about every kitten and puppy does when the time comes to be groomed.

In the end, this kitty looked so clean and beautiful, and commenters pointed out how beautiful they are. It's true — this is a gorgeous baby!

How to Make Bath Time Better for Cats

Some cats are never going to love bath time. Many felines naturally have an aversion to water, which will make your job a bit more difficult from the get go. But there are still a few things you can do to make it less stressful (and to avoid getting scratched yourself).

The ASPCA advises getting your cat used to the idea of getting in the sink or the tub without water first. Let them hang out in the dry tub, and give them treats to create that positive association.

Then, when it's time to actually start using water, you'll want to keep the temperature lukewarm and talk to them to try to soothe their fears during the bath.

One of the big reasons that cats hate baths is because their fur will be wet afterward, which can be really uncomfortable. Be sure to dry them thoroughly, whether it's with a blow dryer (not too hot) or with towels.

If your cat tends to scratch when they're stressed, you'll also want to wear rubber gloves for the occasion, which will help prevent injuries.

Not everyone is going to be a spa day pro like the kitten in this video, but these tips should help our furry friends out the next time a bath becomes necessary!
