DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The Ohio man accused of murdering his three sons at a Clermont County home has entered a plea.

According to online court records, Chad Doerman entered a plea of not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity on March 25.

Authorities were called to a Clermont County residence on Laurel-Lindale Road on June 15, 2023 . Doerman’s sons, ages 3, 4 and 7 years old, died at the scene.

Court records show Ohio requested a second psychiatric evaluation for Doerman following his plea. On March 26, the court ordered an examination of Doerman’s mental state at the time which the offences took place.

Earlier this month, a judge blocked the accused man’s alleged confession. The judge’s ruling said that authorities violated Doerman’s constitutional rights after being taken into custody.

Investigators failed to properly advise the man of his right against self-incrimination or right to an attorney.

All information Doerman provided during that interview will be excluded from the case.

In July, Doerman’s trial is expected to begin.
