Going to the vet is usually at the top of the list of things that our pets don't like to do. Even if it's just a check up, memories of the scary things that have happened during past appointments, like getting vaccines and being separated from their humans, means that a lot of dogs will start to get nervous before they even walk inside. It's hard to blame them for feeling that way — it's not like we can explain to them that everything is going to be okay and talk through their fears beforehand!

But that just means that a visit to the vet means plenty of cuddles and comfort from humans afterward... or from their furry siblings, because some pups are very in tune with their fellow animals' emotions, like the one in this video.

This TikTok video shared by @dogfosterrookie on Wednesday, March 27 shows just how much compassion dogs can have for each other. A foster mama shared her rescue dogs cuddling after a vet visit that hadn't been very easy for one of them.

"Layla was terrified at the vet today and Rango did this when we got home. He knew," she wrote on the video.

In the caption, the dogs' foster mom added, "Dogs know, especially ones that come from trauma. So glad these two have each other."

I'm glad that they have each other, too! It looks like this is already such a beautiful friendship. Who can understand just how scary a visit to the vet can be better than a fellow dog who has been there himself?

Can Dogs Sense Emotions?

While dogs' brains don't work the same way that human brains do, they are still capable of feeling basic emotions, and they are able to sense when the peop[e and dogs around them are feeling these basic emotions , too.

As one animal hospital pointed out, there are a couple of different ways that dogs can sense the emotions of those around them. A big one is smell — emotions can trigger changes in pheromones,

Dogs are also able to sense a change in behavior from the dogs and people they know best. Body language is everything, and that goes for other dogs, too, which means that Rango was easily able to tell that something wasn't right with Layla when she got home from her appointment and knew that she could use some extra cuddles and comfort.

Rango and Layla are so lucky to have each other. I hope the next vet visit isn't nearly as traumatic, but it's good to know that Rango will be there to help Layla through it no matter what.
