Woman’s body found in Bartholomew County river

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. — An investigation is underway after the body of a woman was found in a river on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department, an adult female was found deceased in the East Fork White River at approximately 2 p.m. on Wednesday. The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is assisting in the investigation.

Indiana DNR said in an update around 8:23 p.m. Wednesday that the unidentified woman’s cause of death is pending as they await the results of the autopsy. Indiana DNR added that authorities have found no evidence of foul play while investigating.

According to the Republic newspaper , the body was first reported to police by a kayaker.

Investigators are still working to determine the deceased woman’s identity. Indiana DNR asked anyone with information to contact 812-837-9536.
