Man arrested in Utah County with 30 pounds of fentanyl, grocery bag of cash

UTAH COUNTY, Utah ( ABC4 ) — A man was arrested with 30 pounds of fentanyl, a large amount of cocaine, and a grocery bag full of cash in Utah County on Thursday, according to American Fork Police .

Gustavo Flores-Hernandez, 30, was arrested on money laundering (second-degree felony), possession with intent to distribute controlled substance (second-degree felony), and use or possession of drug paraphernalia (class-B misdemeanor).

On March 21, detectives with Utah County Major Crimes — a task force made up of individuals from multiple agencies assigned to address the problems of drugs, gangs, and violent crimes occurring in the county — served a narcotics search warrant on a local apartment.

Upon searching the residence, detectives found “approximately 30 pounds of fentanyl pills, distributable amounts of cocaine, and large quantities of cash,” the probable cause affidavit states.

Detectives arrested Hernandez on scene as he was entering the apartment, according to police.

“[Hernandez] had a grocery bag full of large quantities of cash as well as fentanyl pills inside the bag of cash,” the affidavit states.

Hernandez was booked into Utah County Jail on the charges previously mentioned.
