Biden Stops Dead in Tracks Upon Seeing Marjorie Taylor Greene Wearing MAGA Hat at State of the Union

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) defied House rules by donning a red MAGA cap to get President Joe Biden’s attention as he made his way down the aisle for his high-stakes State of the Union address Thursday night.

As the president greeted members of Congress on her side of the aisle, Greene and her hat grabbed his attention, causing him to stop in his tracks.

The congresswoman repeated, “Laken Riley. Say her name, Mr. President,” while appearing to try to hand him a button ostensibly with Riley’s name on it.

Riley was the 22-year old nursing student who was allegedly killed by a migrant in the U.S. illegally while she jogged on the University of Georgia campus. Republicans have used that fact to denounce what they’ve called “Biden’s border crisis.”

As Biden continued down the aisle toward Vice President Kamala Harris and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), Greene’s red hat could be seen above the sea of congressional members.

CNN’s Jake Tapper explained during the network’s coverage that it is against House rules to wear a hat in the chamber.
