Prime minister’s remarks came a day after the UN General Assembly overwhelmingly backed calls for a humanitarian suspension of hostilities

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has hit back at growing international calls for a ceasefire, insisting that “nothing” will stop his country’s mission to destroy Hamas, the Palestinian terror group that attacked Israel on Oct. 7.

Netanyahu struck the defiant note a day after the 193-nation U.N. General Assembly voted overwhelmingly to demand a ceasefire in Gaza, the densely populated and Hamas-ruled Palestinian enclave that has been the subject of near-relentless Israeli bombing for more than two months.

More than 150 nations backed the resolution demanding a ceasefire, with 23 abstentions, and only 10 countries, including the U.S., voting against the call.

But Netanyahu on Wednesday appeared unfazed by the vote, saying during a visit to a military detention facility in northern Israel that “we are continuing until the end, until victory, until the elimination of Hamas,” according to the Times of Israel.

“Nothing will stop us,” he added.

His remarks came despite a warning Tuesday that Israel was losing global support from President Biden, who has staunchly stood with Israel and Netanyahu since the war began.

Speaking at a fundraiser, Biden said that Israel was “starting to lose” international support because of what he called the “indiscriminate bombing that takes place” in Gaza.

Alluding to a private conversation with Netanyahu, Biden said the Israeli leader had pointed to the devastation caused when the U.S. and its allies “carpet bombed Germany, you dropped the atom bomb, a lot of civilians died,” according to the Reuters news agency.

To which Biden said he responded by saying: “Yeah, that’s why all these institutions were set up after World War II to see to it that it didn't happen again … don’t make the same mistakes we made in 9/11.”
