Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Emmanuel Rivera will miss the remainder of the season due to a small stable fracture in his left wrist, manager Torey Lovullo said postgame Saturday.

“Unfortunately he’s been nursing a very sore wrist and he had an MRI and there’s a small fracture — a stable fracture,” Lovullo told Bally Sports Arizona’s Jody Jackson.

“He’s been trying to gut out the situation over the past several days. There was initially an X-ray that was negative but there was still some pain that was increasing. We decided to take the next step, so the MRI showed there’s a small fracture and he’ll be done for the year.”

Rivera was originally slated to hit sixth in the order and start at third base for the D-backs against the San Francisco Giants on Saturday.

He was scratched pregame and replaced by infielder Buddy Kennedy en route to an 8-4 win that eliminated the NL West rival from postseason contention.

Rivera joined the Diamondbacks on Aug. 1 in a trade that saw Arizona send right-handed pitcher Luke Weaver to the Kansas City Royals.

The 26-year-old third baseman finished his 2022 season with a slash line of .233/.292/.409 (.701 OPS) on 12 home runs, 16 doubles, three triples, 40 RBIs and 23 walks in 102 games.

And in a D-backs uniform, Rivera slashed .227/.304/.424 (.728 OPS) with six home runs, eight doubles and 18 RBIs in 39 games (132 at-bats). He also added 12 walks and one stolen base.
