THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE IS UNDER INVESTIGATION. TONIGHT -- AN INCIDENT BETWEEN A MOM...HER DAUGHTER...AND A SCHOOL BUS DRIVER...ALL CAUGHT ON CAMERA. THIS HAPPENED IN M-S-A-D 72 IN THE FRYEBURG AREA... WMTW NEWS 8'S MILES HOOD HAS THE LATEST DETAILS -- AND WHAT DO WE KNOW TONIGHT, MILES? I SPOKE WITH EMILY POITRAS THE MOTHER IN THE VIDEO AND SHE WAS SHOCKED AT HOW THIS ENTIRE SITUATION. (YELLING) POITRAS' POITRAS' DAUGHTER SAY SHE WAS RIDING THE BUS HOME YESTERDAY WHEN THE BUS DRIVER STARTED YELLING AT THE STUDENTS FOR THE USING HER CELLPHONE. IN THE VIDEO YOU'LL HERE EMILY TRY AND TALK TO THE DRIVER TO UNDERSTAND THE SITUATION. (YELING) AND THEN THE BUS DRIVER SHOUTS AT POITRAS AND DRIVES OFF WITH EMILY GETTING HIT BY THE BUS DOORS. "I'M NOT HURT AT ALL. BUT I DEABTED ON PRESSING CHARGES" EMILY FILED A POLICE REPORT YESTERDAY WITH OXFORD COUNTY SHERIFFS AND AN INVESTIGATION WAS STARTED. EARLIER TODAY OXFORD SHERIFFS ANNOUNCED THEY WERE CHARGING THE BUS DRIVER 74 YEAR OLD SHIRLEY DANFORTH WITH ASSAULT AND DRIVING TO ENDANGER. ACCORDING TO HER FACEBOOK DANFORTH WORKS FOR BENNET TRANSPORTATION. WE'VE REACHED OUT TO THEM FOR COMMENT BUT THEY HAVEN'T RESPONDED. (GFX) IN A STATEMENT GIVEN TO US, SUPERINTENDENT OF MSAD 72, JAY ROBINSON SAID AN INVESTIGATION IS BEING DONE BY THE DISTRICT AND THAT THEY STRONGLY CONDEMN ACTIONS THAT PUT STUDENTS, PARENTS OR STAFF AT RISK. A bus driver is facing an assault charge after a mother captured her driving off while she was still in the doorway of her bus.Officials say 74-year-old Shirley Danforth of Stoneham is facing an assault charge, as well as driving to endanger.The mother, Emily Poitras, contacted WMTW with a video showing herself and her child's bus driver getting into an argument over her daughter's use of a cellphone.Poitras said her daughter doesn't usually ride the bus but told her mother the bus driver was yelling and threatening the girl and other kids on the bus. She adds the whole moment had her stunned.As the driver is yelling, Poitras is heard on video saying, "Don't yell at kids like that."The driver then can be heard replying: "I yell any way I want. Do not tell me how to run my bus."The video shows the driver driving away while Poitras was still in the doorway of the bus. The open doors then hit Poitras. "I was completely shocked, how she was screaming, even the kid behind her, was shook over her screaming at the top of her lungs. It was very scary for everybody." Poitras said.The school policy for cellphone usage on busses is, students are allowed to use their phones for emergency calls, listening to music with headphones, and contacting their parents. Students are not allowed to take pictures or videos. In a statement the Superintendent of MSAD 72, said an investigation is being done by the district and that they "strongly condemn actions that put students, parents or staff at risk."Danforth has not responded to our request for a comment. She is set to appear in Bridgton District Court on December 13th.
