Pitt move-in days coincide with high covid levels — masks required indoors
Move-in day at the University of Pittsburgh will mean wearing masks for the estimated 8,000 students lugging their belongings into campus housing starting Saturday.
With covid-19 transmission still in the high level in Allegheny County, the university requires masks to be worn indoors, as per CDC guidelines. Face coverings are optional when levels are medium or low.
Allegheny County Community Level is currently High.

Pitt also released an updated health and safety plan, with a few key points for incoming students:
• The CDC no longer requires quarantining after covid exposure. Instead, people exposed should mask for 10 days.
• The school has paused its mandatory testing program for unvaccinated people.
• Students moving into residence halls will be required to do a covid test on arrival, regardless of vaccination status.
• Vaccines available at the Pitt Vaccination and Health Connection HUB, next to University Pharmacy. Visit coronavirus.pitt.edu for an appointment. Walk-ins are accepted based on availability.
Beginning the first week of the fall term, the university will send regular alerts to share covid updates with students.
