PLYMOUTH, Ind. -- REES Theatre in Plymouth will celebrate its grand reopening in October after 5 years of construction.
The festivities will take place October 1st and include a concert, improv show, a ‘dinner in the street’ event and more.
A newly reconstructed stage named after late Plymouth native, Bob Pickell, will be introduced as well.
Pickell taught music throughout Plymouth Community Schools for 38 years, and kids always looked forward to his enthusiasm in class.
One of those students. Denver Bierman, is now a band leader and trumpet player. He tours the world with his band, Denver Bierman and the Mile High Orchestra.
The group has played in the Olympics twice and they’re returning to Plymouth in October to be the first to play on the new stage at the grand reopening.
The grand reopening will also include an attempt at breaking a world record for the largest assembly of trumpet players.
Bierman encourages all trumpet players to come out and help break the record no matter your skill level.
You can sign up at the Rees Theatre website under Events – Trumpet Challenge.
