A Gardnerville man was sentenced Friday for assaulting a passenger and interfering with crew members during a flight from Seattle to Las Vegas.
Daniel A. Parkhurst, 41, pleaded guilty February 22 to the following:
- One count of interference with flight crew members and attendants
- One count of simple assault in the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States
He is sentenced to five years of probation, six months of home confinement, and will have to pay $49,079 to the claimant.
Parkhurst was removed from a flight when he touched a female passenger's inner thigh without consent in 2019.
After the female passenger smacked his hand away, he proceeded to punch her multiple times. Flight attendants and other passengers intervened to stop Parkhurst's behavior.
The flight was forced to land in Reno where he was removed from the plane and arrested.
If you think you are a victim of sexual assault aboard an aircraft, report the incident to your flight crew and to the FBI or call 1-800-CALL-FBI, or contact your local FBI office.
