A pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Rockledge Drive in Bethesda has succumbed to her injuries. At approximately 11:20 a.m., on Friday, May 6, the operator of a blue 2005 Honda Accord was traveling southbound on Rockledge Drive approaching Democracy Boulevard. The operator struck a pedestrian in the southbound lanes as the pedestrian attempted to cross from the median separating the north and south travel lanes of Rockledge Drive.
The operator of the Honda and several witnesses stopped and rendered aid. The pedestrian, 84-year-old Carole Barbara Weiss, was transported to an area hospital where she succumbed to her injuries on May 17.
The initial investigation by the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) has revealed the pedestrian crossed to the center median, toward the western side of Rockledge Drive, and entered the southbound lanes of Rockledge Drive, where she was struck.
This remains an ongoing investigation and charges will be determined upon completion of the investigation by CRU.

Aaron Seyedian launched the home cleaning company Well-Paid Maids in June 2017 and, that August, began offering cleaning services around the D.C. area with his staff of three -- including himself.
At the time, he paid cleaners a living wage of $16 an hour, plus benefits.
Here's what he told The Washington Post in September 2017: "It's just immoral for people to have to panic every time the rent is due, to wonder how they're going to pay for their groceries, or whether they can buy their kid a pair of shoes."
Today, Well-Paid Maids has grown into a team of around 35 employees. Cleaners now get paid a starting wage of $24 an hour. Plus, they get benefits, like health, vision, dental and life insurance; 24 paid days off per year; 100% employer-paid commuting costs; and more.
Aaron and other Well-Paid Maids team members have also advocated for paid family and medical leave, higher minimum wages, and more.
This summer, help Well-Paid Maids celebrate seven years of creating change in a notoriously dirty industry.
