A Portland man attempted to escape police custody while at a hospital, deputies in Cumberland County confirmed.Officials say 25-year-old inmate Lucas Raine tried to climb through the ceiling tiles while in a bathroom at Maine Medical Center.According to deputies, Raine was in the process of being discharged and in restraints during his escape attempt.Corrections officers intervened and were able to stop the inmate from escaping without further incident.He has since been returned to the facility.
