WAYVROSS — Amanda Evelyn Dampier Fasnacht, 99, of Waycross died Thursday evening, May 5, 2022, at Baptist Village after an extended illness.

She was born in Lowndes County to the late Mose Thomas Dampier and Janie Mae Byrd Dampier. Mrs. Fasnacht graduated from the Lowndes County Schools and worked at Moody Air Force Base in the Administrative Offices before moving to Waycross. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and held almost every office in the church through the years. Mrs. Fasnacht taught the Mary Martha Sunday School Class for many years, and served on the UMW boards at the Conference, District, and local levels. She was also a former member of the Waycross Concert Association and the Mary Street Park Association.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Raymond Fasnacht; one sister, Wilma Johnson Burke; one brother, Harold Dampier.

Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Crosby of Waycross and Virginia Ferrell of Brunswick; four grandchildren, Dedee Dunnam (husband Troy) of Douglas, Stephanie Smith (husband Paul) of Waycross, Jessica Grant (husband Brandon) of Brunswick, Chuck Ferrell (wife Amanda) of Brunswick; five great-grandchildren; dearly loved sister-in-law, Audrey Dampier Dasher of Valdosta; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A funeral was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7, at the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David White officiating. A private burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery.
