Hot on the heels of the Black Lives Matter $6 million mansion backlash, experts are now claiming that Black Americans have been negatively impacted by the movement, which was founded in 2016.

According to the Manhattan Institute's Jason Riley, who is Black, he says the movement, which was founded after the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin 17 months earlier in February 2012.

The movement gained traction in 2020 after the murder of George Floyd, he was murdered by officer Deek Chauvin.

Their mission is to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes.

"I would argue that, on balance, these communities are worse off because by [BLM] overemphasizing the role of police, they've changed police behavior for the worse," Riley told Fox News Digital. "In other words, police do become more cautious. They're less likely to get out of their cars and engage with people in the community. And to the extent that police are less proactive, the criminals have the run of the place."

Riley added that "police brutality still exists, bad cops exist," and he has no "problem with raising awareness about police misconduct."

Earlier this week, Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Cullors admitted to throwing two parties at the organization's $6 million Los Angeles mansion.

Cullors has faced heavy backlash after the purchase of the mansion went public weeks ago. The mansion was reportedly purchased using donations following Floyd's death.

In an interview with Associated Press, she confessed to using the mansion to throw a birthday party for her son. She also said that a gathering was held at the luxurious property to celebrate President Biden's inauguration.

"I look back at that and think, that probably wasn't the best idea," she said.
