Redmi K50 series to feature powerful chipsets ranging from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 to MediaTek Dimensity 9000
After launching the Xiaomi 12 series in China last month, the Redmi K50 series stands as the next item on Xiaomi's checklist for its home market. The company is set to debut the Redmi K50 lineup next month, and word on the grapevine has now confirmed some more details about the phones.
As revealed by Digital Chat Station, the Redmi K50 series will launch with four phones and four distinct chipsets. All four phones will be powered by capable chipsets, with the cheapest model being the vanilla Redmi K50 which will sport a Snapdragon 870.
The Redmi K50 Gaming looks to be the first device that will launch, perhaps alongside the regular Redmi K50. The gaming-centric phone will be powered by Qualcomm's latest and greatest, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The Redmi K50 Gaming will offer superb heat dissipation, premium haptics, and shoulder triggers, but at the expense of truly premium cameras.
Lastly, two other Redmi K50 models are expected to be powered by both the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 and Dimensity 8000. The two phones may be the Redmi K50 Pro and Redmi K50 Pro+. Those chipsets aren't shipping quite yet, though, so both phones are unlikely to launch till later in the year.
The K50 e-sports version of the Snapdragon 8, the other three engineering machines are the Snapdragon 870, the Dimensity 8000, and the Dimensity 9000. I have not seen the higher-equipped Snapdragon 8 for the time being.
