Delaware County is experiencing a rise in five metrics that monitor COVID-19 just as we approach the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, writes Max Bennett for patch.com.

Coronavirus cases, positive tests and hospitalizations were all up between Nov 12 and Nov 19, according to state data.

Five of the six metrics from the state health department have increased in Delaware County.

New cases went up from 514 to 572.

The incidence rate per 100,000 people increased from 90.7 to 100.9.

Delaware County’s positive testing rate nearly reached 6 percent, going up from 5.5 percent to 5.9 percent.

Average daily coronavirus hospitalizations went up from 25 to 26.9.

There was also a jump in the number of people showing up to hospital emergency rooms with coronavirus-like symptoms. That went from 1.4 percent to 1.7 percent.

The only metric that decreased was the average daily number of coronavirus patients on ventilators, which dropped from 6 to 3.3.

As of Sunday, Delaware County has 314,815 fully vaccinated residents. Another 56,814 people have received a third dose of the vaccine since Aug. 13.

To date, 56,211 people in Delaware County have had the coronavirus and 1,522 people in the county have died.
