For months, I've been hearing about a Whataburger restaurant that was to open in Lee's Summit. I also understood it was one of Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes' favored hamburger joints in his previous home state of Texas. All day long, people have been waiting in line to get the famous Whataburger located at 1460 NE Douglas Street in Lee's Summit. Police have even been helping to direct traffic.

There are two more locations to open soon in Missouri in Blue Springs and Independence, and two in Overland Park, Kansas. This expansion of the burger restaurant into the Metro area will have an association with Quarterback Mahomes who is now an investor in the KMO Burger franchise group.

    As reported by KMBC News,

"I love Kansas City and I love Whataburger," said Patrick Mahomes said in a news release on the KMO Burger expansion. "I'm excited to help bring a gift from my first home to my second home."

There will be two locations opening in the fall of 2022 in the Northland on Barry Road and also on Highway 152.

Whataburger has been serving its burger since 1950.

Over six decades ago, an adventurous and determined entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand, located on Ayers Street in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.”
