Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Rattlers Fall in Overtime, 89-81, to Regis Rangers

THE RECAP
The St. Mary's Rattlers fell in overtime to the Regis Rangers, 89-81. In what was an extremely close game throughout, St. Mary's (1-1) couldn't stop the Rangers in overtime, dropping their first game of the season. The Rattlers were outscored 11-3 in the extra period.

The Rangers led by four at the end of the first half, but the Rattlers fought back. Outscoring the Rangers by a 38-34 total, the Rattlers held the lead for much of the second half. Unfortunately for StMU, poor execution and defense let the Rangers roar back to force overtime. In the final five minutes, the Rangers shut down the St. Mary's offense to take the win away from StMU.

Kobe Magee led the Rattlers in scoring for the second straight night. Magee poured in 27 points on 10 of 23 shooting. Magee hit seven 3s in 16 attempts. Caleb Jordan contributed 19, while Josh Brewer accounted for 18.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- The Rattlers continued to get big time contributions from their bench. Nonstarters accounted for 25 points in the loss.
- St. Mary's couldn't penetrate into the paint or the low block, only scoring 18 points in the pain.
- The Rattlers turned the ball over 13 times, accounting for 18 Ranger points.

HEAD COACH JAMES ZELEZNAK ON THE LOSS
"We played poorly in the first ten minutes of the game. We just didn't come out with the same intensity that we had last night, especially on the defensive side. We fought our way back into the game, but just didn't function very well offensively with the lead late in the second half."

UP NEXT
The Rattlers head to Corpus Christi to take on the Islanders of Texas A&M-CC. Tip-off is scheduled for November 27th and 2 p.m.
