Honor announces a launch for 2 new, yet oddly familiar-looking, phones
Honor has announced a launch for 2 new phones to celebrate the typically bumper November 11 sales festival in China for 2021. The OEM managed to leave their product names out of this teaser; however, they are rumored to be called the X30i and X30 Max. In the case of the latter, it already gives the convincing impression of being a complete throwback to a phablet of a very similar name.
The Honor X10 Max launched in 2020 as a rare reprisal of the ultra-big-screen trend, with a 7.09-inch FHD+ display and a 5,000mAh battery. The "X30 Max" seems ready to reprise its design, even down to the dual rear cameras.
Then again, its shooters are touted to upgrade to a 64MP main sensor, while its SoC will also graduate to a newer Dimensity 900 chipset. In addition, Honor has yet to reveal its display, which means it could have something other than the waterdrop notch of the X10.
The X30i, on the other hand, has the stovetop-type camera hump that is looking slightly aged by now. It does allegedly have triple 48+2+2MP rear cameras, at least, as well as a 6.7-inch FHD+ 90Hz LCD screen with a punch-hole selfie camera, thought to be driven by a Dimensity 810 processor found in a flat-edged chassis. Then again, we will have to wait until October 28, 2021 to find out for sure.
