Welcome back to another episode on your Over the Monster Podcast network, as we’ll be with you after every game of this postseason run. For this one, it is Keaton and Bob attempting to sum up five and a half hours of chaos and drama in 20 minutes.

The Red Sox defeated the Rays 6-4 in 13 innings on Sunday night. Nathan Eovaldi’s five innings to start the game, significantly outlasted Drew Rasmussen who made it through two-plus innings, and put the Sox bullpen in a better place when all was said and done. We discussed the bullpen decisions from there, between whether Eovaldi should’ve started the sixth, if Robles or Whitlock was the best choice to open the eighth, and just how good Nick Pivetta was, throwing four shutout innings on two days rest.

Kyle Schwarber, Enrique Hernández, and Rafael Devers got the action started and put the Red Sox out to a 4-2 lead, before Robles allowed two runs in the eighth. We discuss our initial thoughts when the 13th inning ground-rule double happened. We then confirmed that a correctly applied, quirky ground rule probably shouldn’t be debated with some of the rules we’ve seen in the past at Tropicana Field. Christian Vázquez has had a flair for the dramatic in the past, we weren’t surprised to see him as the hero. We discuss a few other opportunities that nearly ended the game down the stretch.

The Rays deployed their best relievers as early as the third inning when Andrew Kittredge entered the game and kept things in check as a result. Looking forward, with Patino needed in game three, who might we see starting game four? We know that Eduardo Rodriguez will start for the Red Sox, but who will be ready to go behind him?

Finally, with Marathon Monday on the horizon, what might the crowd look like Monday evening and what color will the Sox uniforms be?
