Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Barry Beal

No. 1 Women’s Soccer Tops NJCU, 4-0

EWING, N.J. – The No. 1 TCNJ women's soccer team scored early and often as the Lions dominated play against New Jersey City on Saturday afternoon at Lions Stadium. TCNJ scored three times in less than three minutes in the first half on its way to a 4-0 NJAC victory.

The three first-half goals came in a flurry. Julia Obst opened the scoring with an assist from Amelia Curtis on a long pass to the right side in the 13th minute.

Two minutes later, the Lions scored twice in succession. Sophie Vieira scored off Gianna Coppola's cross to make it 2-0, and Emma Pascarella followed with a deflection into the net off a feed by Obst to make it 3-0.

With the game well in hand as the Lions outshot NJCU, 24-2, the Lions liberally substituted the rest of the way. In total, 30 different TCNJ players entered the contest, including three total goalkeepers.

One of those subs, Sofia Alves, scored in the 62nd minute off an assist by Deanna D'Imperio to make it 4-0.

Lindsay O'Keefe (4) and Ariana Jones (3) came off the bench to lead the Lions in shots.

The top-ranked Lions are now 11-0 and move on to face Rutgers-Camden on the road on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
