No. 14 Michigan hasn’t had much success in the 21st Century when they travel to Madison, Wisconsin. Playing the Badgers at Camp Randall has been an increasingly tough task as time has went by.
The last time Michigan won at Wisconsin — the iPhone wasn’t invented yet, YouTube wasn’t created yet, there was no Facebook, no Twitter, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings were the highest grossing movies. It was a different world.
How long has it been since Michigan last won at Camp Randall? 2001. The game was tied up at 17-17 heading into the fourth quarter, and it went down to the final seconds where Michigan kicker Hayden Epstein made a 31-yard field goal to give Michigan a 20-17 win.
Michigan has played in Madison five times since that win in November of 2001, and only one of those games was particularly close.
2019: Wisconsin 35 - Michigan 14
2017: Wisconsin 24 - Michigan 10
2009: Wisconsin 45 -Michigan 24
2007: Wisconsin 37 - Michigan 21
2005: Wisconsin 23 - Michigan 20
2001: Michigan 20 - Wisconsin 17
Michigan heads into the matchup on Saturday sitting at 4-0, while 1-2 Wisconsin just lost miserably to Notre Dame 41-13. Wisconsin doesn’t have momentum, but history isn’t on Michigan’s side of late — a fact they must get turned around this weekend if they want to keep their biggest goals in tact.
