Ja’Marr Chase makes history vs. Steelers (UPDATED)

UPDATE

It turns out Ja’Marr Chase joined even more rarefied air by hauling in two touchdowns today in the Cincinnati Bengals’ 24-10 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Chase is now the youngest player in NFL history to catch four touchdowns in his first three games.

The man he surpassed to reach this mark is Pro Football Hall of Fame selection Randy Moss.

I’d say the Bengals got this pick right.

The Cincinnati Bengals have found a keeper in Ja’Marr Chase.

Granted, any top-five pick should eventually become a cornerstone piece of any franchise, but it’s still no guarantee for success in the NFL.

The Bengals certainly aren’t having buyer’s remorse with Chase, who did have a rough preseason, though that’s been a thing of the past as the rookie enjoys a historical start to his professional career.

After hauling in a 34-yard score in the second quarter of Cincinnati’s Week 3 clash with the Steelers, Chase became just the ninth player in NFL history to catch a touchdown in his first three NFL games. He’s also the first Bengals player to ever do it, per team reporter Marisa Contipelli.

But Chase wasn’t done there, as he hauled in a nine-yard scoring grab in the third quarter from former LSU Tigers teammate Joe Burrow to put the good guys ahead 24-7. Chase is now up to four touchdowns and counting in his debut season, while the Bengals are finally climbing out of the AFC North cellar.
