Casas is really adjusting quite well to Triple-A, it would seem, and after hitting a homer in his first game we saw some athleticism here in his second with a triple and a stolen base. Casas isn’t a bad athlete, but certainly don’t expect his legs to be a major part of his game. On the mound, it was a solid outing for Crawford, who did make one mistake which resulted in a two-run homer, but the strikeout and walk numbers were tremendous. Some of the shine will have likely come off after his tough showing in the majors, but the circumstances for that start were far from ideal, having been given very little notice. I’m not sure what his role is in the majors, but I think the stuff is good enough that he can carve something out as soon as next year if needed.

There’s not really a whole lot to touch on from the game for the Red squad. The Blue squad, on the other hand, had a big game all around. Garcia was certainly the star at the plate, and he continues to have a nice year. The outfielder blasted his fourth homer of the season, and he’s now hitting .295 with a .936 OPS. He’ll likely have a strong case for DSL player of the year by the end. And Paez could get some consideration for the best pitcher. He’s now tossed 50 13 innings this year, pitching to a 2.86 ERA with 49 strikeouts and only nine walks. He’ll be an interesting one to monitor next summer on the complex.
