PITTSBURGH – There were a couple of Cincinnati Reds players sitting in the dugout a few minutes after Wilmer Difo scored the game-winning run with two outs in the ninth inning Wednesday, perhaps still trying to process what happened.
For the game, it was a defensive letdown in the ninth inning. Difo reached base when left fielder Max Schrock misjudged a fly ball and then he scored from second base on a putout at first.
What it means for the season is the Reds are on the verge of a collapse after their 5-4 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park.
