Harvey Elliott: Liverpool midfielder to have surgery on ankle injury in London on Tuesday

Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott will have surgery on his injured ankle on Tuesday, says boss Jurgen Klopp.

Elliott, 18, was carried off on a stretcher during Sunday's 3-0 win at Leeds after a challenge by defender Pascal Struijk, who was sent off.

"He is in London and will have surgery today," Klopp said.

"We all wait for news from that. I spoke to him the night after the game and he was in the best possible place at the moment."

Elliott's team-mates were clearly upset by the seriousness of the injury at the time and say they will now rally around the youngster as he recovers.
