Detroit Tigers relief pitcher Joe Jimenez and bench coach George Lombard reported their symptoms and tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, just before the Tigers began a three-game series with the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park.
With Jimenez and Lombard locked in their hotel across the Roberto Clemente Bridge, the Tigers and Pirates played all three contests without further health issues. Tigers manager AJ Hinch thought his team was in the clear upon returning to Comerica Park in Detroit, considering a four days had passed since the two-man outbreak.
On Friday, though, reliever Miguel Del Pozo joined Jimenez on the COVID-19 injured list.
