The Dali Museum in St. Petersburg is gearing up for its next big exhibit which will open in January 2022 featuring some of Picasso's rarest works. After the Van Gogh Alive exhibit was a huge success, locals are looking forward to what the popular gallery has in store for us.

Picasso and the Allure of the South is an exclusive exhibit made up of the artist's work created during his stay in the mountain towns of northern Spain and along the Mediterranean coast of France. It's considered a time period when Picasso made some of his most critical contributions to the art world.

Working with the Musée national Picasso-Paris, the show will feature 77 paintings, drawings, and collages, most of which have never been shown in the United States before. Among them will be portraits, still lifes, landscapes, and more.

Executive Director of The Dalí Museum Dr. Hank Hine described the exhibit in a recent press release:

Picasso and the Allure of the South represents an exceedingly rare opportunity to experience masterworks by the artist through the innovative lens of place and cultural context.

Photos of Picasso during this period of his life will also be displayed alongside his work, shedding a light on how he was living during this period. Specifically, viewers will become familiar with his studio spaces in Spain and France.

Picasso and the Allure of the South will include the following notable art pieces:

    • Portrait de Madame Rosenberg et sa fille (1918)
    • Femme au buffet (1936)
    • Le Baiser (1969)
    • Nature morte à la table servie (1913)
    • Paysage de Juan-les-Pins (1920)
    • Femmes dans un intérieur (1936)
    • Musicien (1972)

The show will run from January 29 to May 22. Follow The Dali Museum on Facebook to be reminded of the exhibit when the date gets closer!
