Why Small Weddings are Better Than Massive Ones

Covid definitely changed things up a bit, especially weddings.

My first wedding in seven years happened last week in Seattle for my aunt and uncle, and it was a backyard wedding. It was so unique, intimate, and meaningful.

I have been to big weddings before, and it was a bit overwhelming. It felt more like a festival rather than a wedding for the two individuals.

After attending such a small gathering of no more than 30 people, I determined that I would prefer a smaller wedding in the future. So, here are some pros and cons to a small wedding.

    Pros of a Small Wedding

    • Small weddings are typically cheaper because you accommodate fewer people.
    • Catering food costs a ton of money, and the fewer people attending means fewer bellies that need to be filled.
    • The people who attend are typically well known, and there are far more meaningful interactions.
    • It’s more exclusive and meaningful for the bride, groom, and their guests.
    • You don’t have to reserve a giant location or space.

    Cons of a Small Wedding

    •  There are going to be people outside of your wedding who will feel left out.
    • Some people want big weddings with anyone and everyone there.
    • It may not feel as big and grand as you once imagined it would (like the wedding from Crazy Rich Asians)
    • You may not get to share your special day with everyone you would have liked to.

    Final Thought

Personally, there are many pros to a small wedding when it comes to finances and has more meaningful interactions.

I’m very social and all for networking and meeting new people, but not at my family’s wedding. Instead, it’s to celebrate the bride and groom, catch up with family and family-friends, and gather for a special moment.

If you’re in between having a small or big wedding, review the pros and cons list, think about all the logistics and make your decision.

Either way, the goal is to tie the knot and be official after all.
