Huntington National Bank is expanding across Columbus. In recent years the community has been no stranger to local branch closures across the central Ohio area. But Huntington National Bank, is looking to break the cycle. With a total of five Ohio branches planned for this year alone, Columbus is looking at a community of new and improved convince.

Two of these three new spaces will replace other branches in the community. Meanwhile, the other three branches will be brand new constructions. The five new branches will circulate new jobs for the community, whether it is the manual labor to build these buildings from the ground up. Or to have friendly Ohioans greeting you at the front door, the opportunities are endless.

Huntington National Bank has streamlined these various locations across the Columbus area to pinpoint where the community is experiencing a large spike in their growth. The goal for the company is to create accessibility for customers in up-and-coming neighborhoods. Not only is Huntington National Bank providing a storefront for customers, but their online banking spaces are available too. This is what creates a reliable atmosphere.

The pandemic has taken a significant toll on the in-person banking system. More residents find themselves managing their banking through online platforms and don't turn to in-person mediums as much as they used to.

Carrie Ghose from Columbus Business First stated,

“Huntington had been closing on average 130 Branches a year”.

Ghose had the opportunity to speak with the CEO of Huntington Bancshares Inc., Steve Steinour. He stated, “Customers still prefer in-person help for certain transactions.”

As of current, Huntington has 1,100 branches. As the Ohio community shifts towards normalcy with a push for more vaccinations, will in person banking be a success?
