Losing a loved one is an ordeal every time, but for a family in Pontiac the hurt and sadness turned into disbelief when they had a look inside the casket, as Fox News reports.

    What are the details?

“We are all very sad, all very distraught. Everyone knew that wasn’t my father. Even as we were walking in, people who knew said, ‘Tell them to put your father there,” Spenser Tillman, Larry's son, said for Fox News.

Spenser revealed that he had his doubts, and he knew immediately that something was not right.

“Just from the way that he looked, facial features that he had that weren’t there,” he shared with the news outlet.

The whole family say they have no idea who was put there, and they certainly intend to get some answers from the funeral home that took care of the ceremony.

“We kept saying this is not Larry Tillman, there is some sort of mix-up,” they stated.

Despite the doubt and the hurt feelings, the family decided to proceed with the burial and the funeral.

“We proceeded with the funeral the best way we could. With what we knew, and from what they were saying at the time, we proceeded. No, we did not mourn, we didn't cry, it was like living in the Twilight Zone,” the son said.

Spenser went back to his home in Georgia, where he lives with his wife and family, but he says he will try all he can to get answers about what happened.

What was the reaction from the funeral home?

FOX 2 got in touch with the funeral home to try and find out their take on the strange incident.

“The allegations are false, malicious, and not true. We investigated the allegations and absolutely not true,” was the statement from their attorney.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office was contacted, but the investigative unit for this case will be the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.

“There is no prior disciplinary history for this funeral home. There is an open investigation associated with this. We cannot comment further,” a spokesperson from LARA stated.

The Tillman family will not give up and they have reached out to an attorney to help them find a reason for what happened.

“We just want to get answers, we want to get to the bottom of it. But more importantly to find out where my father is and properly bury him,” Tillman said after the Pontiac incident.
