A driver lost his life after his Mercedes collided with a Los Angeles home. The terrible incident took place on Thursday night, according to the officials. The investigation is currently focused on the possibility of street racing causing the driver’s death.

The vehicle burst into flames soon after hitting the house. Just moments before the crash happened, a little girl who lived inside the home decided to walk out of her bedroom for a while.

This move very likely saved her life, as Fox News reports.

    How did it all happen?

The Los Angeles Police Department revealed that at 11:30 p.m. the driver of a Mercedes was going at high speed on east on Third Street. This was right before the crash took place.

The Mercedes first met a tree, then was in the air, and finally crashed through the garage, into the one-story home. The location was the 200 block of South Rimpau Boulevard.

Several witnesses said for the news outlet that they had spotted four vehicles at the time when the crash happened. Street racing is a very likely cause of the tragic incident.

A person who was driving an Orange BMW remained at the scene, while the other two vehicles disappeared.

Another witness who saw the collision unfold said he and his friends tried their best to rescue the driver.

“We parked right away to try to help the guy because we saw it was pretty bad. About 30 seconds later, the car just lit up on fire and a lot of us tried to save him and tried to get him out, but the fire kept growing fast,” the witness identified as Andres said for Fox News.

The flames were put out by the Los Angeles Fire Department in about 30 minutes. Unfortunately, the driver of the Mercedes couldn’t be saved. He passed away at the scene, the officials said.

The family living in the house said that street racing is a serious problem in the Hancock Park area and had been afraid something like this would happen.

No one inside the Los Angeles home was hurt.
